It took skill to achieve the feats of the good housewife. They received lots of love and appreciation in return during this tightest family knit, and they blindly relinquished it.
June Cleaver had plenty of supportive authority in the Beaver episodes. And Ward listened. Between the two of them, they had their appointed roles in the homelife, and the man of the house made the final decision. Even back in the the early Dagwood & Blondie movies, guess who had more initial profile?? And in The Honeymooners?? Even Wilma in The damn Flintstones! These portrayed women had properly focused strength.
It's when the wymyn started getting laaaaaazy that they started to lose their focus in the home. And started to lose their self esteem, and ultimately, their PLACE! 'Tis then when they got selfish and started acting like their three-year-old modern selves and throwing tantrums in the streets.
"I'm such a victim!", they sobbed as they slowly and irrevocably built rage and hatred against their husbands, and males in general.
That's when the wymyn used what little energy output they "allowed" themselves to blubber for "rights". And when the home life started to turn to shit. And when they demanded their husbands do more housework when they got home from a productive day at work, even though the bitches were home all day. Tell me, what husband wants to come home to this type of existentialism?
Then the next forty years of tumult ensued. Wymyn were given rights unequivocally. Men started losing their shorts, and strife became the result.
